The site has been rebuilt with Astro so posts live as plain Markdown files and the design can change without touching them.

This is the first post on the rebuilt site. It’s an example to show how posts look, so feel free to edit or delete it.

How it works

Every post is a Markdown (or MDX) file in src/content/posts/. The front matter at the top says which category it belongs to:

---
title: My long run in the hills
description: One sentence that appears in lists and search results.
date: 2026-10-20
category: running
tags: [trail, training]
---

When anything is pushed to GitHub, a workflow builds the site and publishes it to GitHub Pages. The layouts, colours and fonts are all separate from the posts, so a redesign means changing a few files in src/layouts/ and src/styles/ and every page is regenerated.

The old talks

Slides from talks I gave between 2013 and 2014 are still here, at the same addresses they always had. They are listed on the talks page.
